AUTUMN 2022 NEWSLETTER
Dear GATHER UP friends,
We hope you have had a golden Summer full of rest, dancing and adventures in the sunshine. We are buzzed to be back and hosting different ways to support our dancing community.
Next week we are very excited to be hosting visiting artist Annie Edwards who will be leading a workshop to share some of her dancing practice, drawing from her background in hip hop and contemporary dance and her lived experience as a disabled person. Saturday 24th September at Arnolfini. There’s a few spaces left, so do come and join us for a day of dancing!
Round 3 of our Response Pot is open! We have two £500 micro-bursaries available to Bristol-based artists working within contemporary dance practices. Deadline for submission is 5pm, Wednesday 5th October. Full application details here.
For year 2 of our programme, we are extending our Care Pot offering to include three £50 bursaries for recent graduate dancers to support with attending the workshops and/or morning classes in our programme and help with continuing training. These will be offered first come, first served. Please reach out to us.
Our Monday morning class has returned with Kip Johnson and Roseanna Anderson taking us into the Autumn! We hope to see you in class. Following a recent workshop on access lead by artists Holly Thomas and Raquel Meseguer Zafe, we are pleased to be piloting access to Creative Audio Description for visually impaired dancers, for both our classes and workshops. If this is something you would benefit from, please reach out to us.
And finally, our Library of People has reopened its doors after a Summer break. It is open to artists working in dance in the South West region of the UK. Please read on for info on how to access FREE meeting time with a selection of artists with a range of expertise.
